Summary of Committee Meeting
The recent committee meeting featured a workshop that operated on bias, asking citizens to indicate the number of roosters they were willing to permit and give up their rights for. Community members largely supported the sheriff's department's position on the necessity to address cockfighting issues. However, the sheriff's department did not provide any information or respond to questions raised by attendees.
Concerns Raised by Citizens
Law-abiding citizens expressed multiple concerns regarding the threat to their Constitutional rights and questioned why law enforcement was targeting them as the primary concern in this matter.
Citizens provided examples of the unintended consequences for this blanket ordinance restricting the management of their flocks.
